WiFinder - Work-Friendly WiFi Cafes, Coffee Shops, and Bars
Jan 09, 2016 10:51:08 PM
If you're a student trying to find a cafe to study, lean startup owner looking for a coffee shop to bootstrap out of, or just need a restaurant to plug in your phone and use WiFi to stream some music, WiFinder will help you find the best signal and most work-friendly place near you. Users can rate the WiFi strength, because let's face it, not all "Free WiFi" is built the same. When I've looked for new places to bootstrap out of, I've used other place-rating applications that may say they have WiFi, but the signal was unusable, or I showed up and they didn't have any outlets. WiFinder will also let you see how computer-friendly places are, and other possibly important information to you: how many outlets they have, how many seats they might have, hours they're open, and any other information you might need to be able to discover new places. A small beta version is released to Android and iOS, but it's missing a lot and needs users and input on what else is important.

Cool concept. What I really need is an app to block xfinity wifi from showing up in my iphone preferences. Can someone please make that?

Hi Jon, very cool concept. Have you thought about bringing some early users on board? If you're looking for an audience you can check out http://eliteapppromoters.paradisemediaco.com/

Hi Colin, I too know the xfinity wifi struggle :)  Try clicking the little (i) icon next to the wifi signal. Then scroll down to and click "forget network" and your troubles with Comcast will be over (for now).
